A Wilhelm Scream

About

A Wilhelm Scream is a melodic hardcore band from New Bedford, Massachusetts, that formed in 1993. The band's name references the Wilhelm scream, a famous stock sound effect commonly used in films. Their musical style has been compared to bands including Strung Out, Hot Water Music, Propagandhi, and Strike Anywhere. Before settling on their current name, the band previously performed under two other monikers: Koen and Smackin' Isaiah, with Smackin' Isaiah being the only previous name used for any major releases. The transitions between these names corresponded with the band's evolution, as new members joined and the group matured musically and artistically over time.
