Formed in 1995 in Waregem, Belgium, Aborted is a death metal band that has maintained a presence in the extreme metal scene for nearly three decades. The group is led by vocalist and founder Sven de Caluwé, who remains the only constant member throughout the band's history. The current lineup includes guitarists Ian Jekelis and Dan Konráðsson, with members now hailing from Belgium, Iceland, and the United States. The band's musical style has evolved over time, initially classified as deathgrind but more recently associated with deathcore elements. Music critics have characterized their sound as combining unrestrained grindcore savagery with meticulously crafted death metal technicality. Throughout their career, Aborted has released a substantial discography consisting of twelve studio albums, six EPs, and one live DVD, demonstrating their prolific output and commitment to their craft.
