From Houma, Louisiana, Acid Bath emerged as a sludge metal band that defined a genre during their active years from 1991 to 1997. Regarded as one of the first and most influential sludge metal bands, they crafted a distinctive sound by blending a doom metal foundation with elements of hardcore punk, death metal, gothic rock, blues, grunge, and Southern rock. The band's discography consists of two studio albums: When the Kite String Pops, released in 1994, and Paegan Terrorism Tactics, released in 1996. Their creative run came to an end following the death of bassist Audie Pitre, who died in a traffic collision in January 1997. After nearly three decades apart, the band announced a reunion in October 2024.
