A Christian preacher active in 8th-century Gaul, Aldebert claimed to possess extraordinary spiritual powers granted by divine intervention. According to his teachings, an angel bestowed miraculous abilities upon him at birth, while another angel delivered sacred relics from across the world into his possession. Aldebert asserted that he could perceive future events and discern the innermost thoughts of those who sought him out. He told his followers that they had no need to engage in confession, reasoning that he already knew the details of their actions through his claimed powers of perception. Furthermore, he assured them that their sins were forgiven based on his spiritual authority.
