About
Formed in 1999 in Birmingham, Anaal Nathrakh is a British extreme metal band created by multi-instrumentalist Mick Kenney and vocalist Dave Hunt. The band's name, derived from Irish meaning "snake's breath," was inspired by Merlin's Charm of Making from John Boorman's 1981 film Excalibur. Currently signed to Metal Blade Records, the band has established itself as a prolific force in the extreme metal scene. Their discography includes eleven studio albums, one EP, and one compilation album, beginning with two demos recorded in 1999 that were later released as an album. Anaal Nathrakh has earned critical recognition for their distinctive approach to music, blending elements of grindcore, black metal, death metal, and industrial genres into their compositions.
