Angry Samoans

The Angry Samoans are an American punk rock band from the first wave of American punk, formed in August 1978 in Los Angeles, California. The band was created by "Metal" Mike Saunders, an early 1970s rock writer, alongside his sibling lead guitarist Bonze Blayk and Gregg Turner, a rock writer who contributed to Creem magazine from the late 1970s through the mid-1980s. Original recruits Todd Homer on bass and Bill Vockeroth on drums completed the initial lineup. The band's roster evolved over the years, featuring P.J. Galligan on lead guitar from 1979 to 1984, Jeff Dahl on vocals in 1981, and Steve Drojensky on lead guitar from 1984 to 1988. Their debut vinyl release, Inside My Brain, came out in 1980. The group went on to release several studio albums, including Back from Samoa in 1982, STP Not LSD in 1988, and The '90s Suck and So Do You. Their song "Get Off the Air" became notable enough to result in the band being banned from several venues in the LA and Hollywood district.
