From Helsinki, Finland, Apocalyptica is a symphonic metal band established in 1993. The ensemble features three classically trained cellists: Eicca Toppinen, Paavo Lötjönen, and Perttu Kivilaakso. Beginning as a classical-style Metallica tribute act, the band evolved into a neoclassical metal group distinguished by the absence of conventional guitars and bass. With over four million albums sold worldwide, they have established themselves as a unique force in metal music.
