Swedish melodic death metal band Arch Enemy was formed in 1995 in Halmstad as a supergroup featuring musicians from notable acts including Carcass, Armageddon, Carnage, Mercyful Fate, Spiritual Beggars, The Agonist, Nevermore, Eucharist, and Once Human. The band was founded by Carcass guitarist Michael Amott and Johan Liiva, both formerly of the death metal band Carnage. Arch Enemy has released eleven studio albums, three live albums, three video albums, and four EPs throughout their career. The band's vocal duties have changed hands several times, beginning with founding member Johan Liiva before German vocalist Angela Gossow took over in 2000. Gossow departed in March 2014 and transitioned to the role of group manager, with Canadian vocalist Alissa White-Gluz assuming frontwoman duties. White-Gluz left the band at the end of 2025, and American vocalist Lauren Hart was announced as the new frontwoman on February 19, 2026.
