Frequently called Attila the Hun, he was the ruler of the Huns from 434 until his death in 453. He led an empire consisting of Huns, Ostrogoths, Alans, and Gepids across Central and Eastern Europe. During his reign, he was one of the most feared enemies of the Western and Eastern Roman Empires, crossing the Danube, plundering the Balkans, and invading both the Byzantine Empire and Roman Gaul. After his death, his empire quickly collapsed following a Germanic revolt.
