BadBadNotGood is a Canadian instrumental band and production team from Toronto founded in 2010 by bassist Chester Hansen, keyboardist Matthew Tavares, and drummer Alexander Sowinski. Leland Whitty joined the group in 2016 as a frequent collaborator. The ensemble combines jazz musicianship with a hip hop production perspective, allowing them to reach audiences across hip hop, jazz, and alternative music communities. They have released six solo studio albums, with their most recent being Mid Spiral in July 2024. The group is renowned for their collaborations with prominent artists including Tyler, The Creator, Daniel Caesar, Mick Jenkins, Kendrick Lamar, Ghostface Killah, Charlotte Day Wilson, Baby Rose, and MF DOOM. Their songwriting and production work has earned them five Grammy Award nominations, with two wins.
