Balance and Composure is an American emo band from Doylestown, Pennsylvania, formed in 2007 by vocalist and guitarist Jon Simmons, drummer Bailey Van Ellis, guitarist and vocalist Andy Slaymaker, and bassist Matt Warner following the disbandments of their previous bands Erection Kids and Scenic. Recognized as one of the founding acts of the fourth-wave of emo and a pioneer of soft grunge music, the band released two EPs and a split album with Tigers Jaw before their 2011 debut album Separation, which came after guitarist Erik Petersen joined the lineup. They continued with their second album The Things We Think We're Missing in 2013, followed by Light We Made in 2016. In 2019, Bailey Van Ellis departed and was replaced by drummer Dennis Wilson. After their final tour, the band disbanded, but they reunited in 2023 with the lineup from their final tour and released their fourth album With You in Spirit in 2024.
