There are at least two artists known as Boltcutter. The first is a hip hop-influenced slam band from Eugene, Oregon, who describe themselves as "541 Idiotic Slamming Chainbreak Chuggery" and "PNW Idiotic Homicidal Brutal Slamming Chainbreak Chuggery." The second is a metalcore band from Christchurch, New Zealand, active from 2010 to 2014. This band played an aggressive brand of metallic hardcore punk and consisted of four members with prior experience in bands including XfrankgrimesX, Vorpal Blade, and Lesbomould. Known for delivering an uncompromising assault on the senses, Boltcutter performed live around New Zealand and made a notable appearance at Desecration of the Capital III in Wellington in 2012, an Internecion event.
