Founded in Bergen, Norway in 1995 by Øystein Garnes Brun, Borknagar is a progressive metal band that incorporates black metal and folk influences into its sound. The band initially formed as a black metal project before evolving toward a more melodic and progressive musical direction. Throughout their career, Borknagar has explored lyrical themes centered on philosophy, paganism, nature, and the cosmos. To date, the band has released twelve studio albums.
