Brujeria

Formed in Los Angeles, California in 1989, Brujeria is an American extreme metal band known for their Spanish-language lyrics exploring themes including Satanism, anti-Christianity, sex, immigration, narcotics smuggling, and politics. The band's name derives from brujería, the Spanish word for witchcraft. Several band members are Hispanic and Latino Americans who incorporate Mexican imagery into their artistic presentation. Throughout their history, Brujeria has included notable musicians such as Raymond Herrera, Billy Gould, Nick Barker, Jeff Walker, and Shane Embury. The band performs under pseudonyms and presents themselves as a Latino group consisting of drug lords, with members concealing their identities due to claiming to be wanted by the FBI. In their visual presentations, band members wear distinctive imagery including bandanas, balaclavas, and serapes, and are frequently shown wielding machetes.
