BTS is a South Korean boy band formed in 2013 under Big Hit Entertainment. The seven-member group—Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook—co-write and co-produce their music. Originally a hip hop group, they have expanded into multiple genres with lyrics addressing mental health, coming of age, self-love, and fame. BTS became the first Korean ensemble to receive a Gold RIAA certification and topped the Billboard 200. They achieved multiple Grammy nominations and broke records as the fastest act to earn six US number-one singles since the Beatles.
