Burial Invocation

Burial Invocation draws inspiration from early Christian history and archaeological discovery. The project references the Frankfurt silver inscription, a significant 3rd century Christian amulet from the Roman settlement of Nida. This artifact was uncovered in 2018 during excavations at a burial ground in Frankfurt-Praunheim and is now housed in the Archaeological Museum Frankfurt am Main. The rolled silver foil remained a mystery until 2024, when computed tomography technology allowed researchers to digitally unroll and decipher its contents. The inscription stands as one of the earliest material records of Christianity north of the Alps, offering important evidence of early Christian devotional practices in the border regions of the Latin West. Through the band's name and thematic focus, Burial Invocation connects modern music to these ancient spiritual traditions and archaeological significance.
