Hailing from Cleveland, Ohio, Chimaira is an American heavy metal band that formed in August 1998. The band's name derives from the word Chimera, a monstrous creature featured in Greek mythology. Throughout its history, Chimaira experienced numerous line-up changes, with vocalist Mark Hunter remaining as the only constant member through the band's various iterations. After nearly two decades of activity, the band dissolved in 2014. However, the group announced a reunion in 2017 and made their official return in 2023, with most of the band's longtime members rejoining for the comeback.
