Founded in 1979 in Los Angeles by former Black Flag vocalist Keith Morris and Redd Kross guitarist Greg Hetson, Circle Jerks became a landmark hardcore punk band. Their 1980 debut album Group Sex is considered essential to the genre. The band released six studio albums across multiple iterations, breaking up and reuniting several times due to member changes and Hetson's commitments with Bad Religion. Their final studio album, Oddities, Abnormalities and Curiosities, arrived in 1995. Circle Jerks reunited in 2020 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of their influential debut.
