Founded in 2004 in Fullerton, California, Cold War Kids are an American indie rock band from Long Beach. The group features Nathan Willett on vocals, piano, and guitar, alongside Matt Maust on bass guitar, David Quon on guitar and backing vocals, Matthew Schwartz on keyboards, backing vocals, guitar, and percussion, and Joe Plummer on drums and percussion. The band has included former members Dann Gallucci, Matt Aveiro, and Jonnie Russell throughout its history. Cold War Kids began their career with releases on the independent record label Monarchy Music before signing with Downtown/V2 in 2006. That year marked the release of their major label debut, Robbers & Cowards, which gained cult appeal among fans and critics. The band continued to evolve their sound with subsequent albums including 2008's Loyalty to Loyalty and 2011's Mine Is Yours, both of which received mixed critical reception. Their seventh studio album, New Age Norms 1, was released on November 1, 2019.
