About
Colorblind refers to color vision deficiency, a condition characterized by decreased ability to see color or distinguish shades. The most common form is congenital red-green color blindness, affecting approximately 1 in 12 males and 1 in 200 females due to genes on the X chromosome. Color blindness results from cone cell variations in the retina, physical eye damage, or natural age-related degradation. While there is no cure for most types, people with color blindness develop coping mechanisms to compensate for the deficiency.
