Dangerous Toys is an Austin, Texas-based rock band known for their often humorous lyrics. Founded in 1987, the group achieved mainstream success with their 1989 self-titled debut album, which featured the singles "Teas'n, Pleas'n" and "Scared" and earned gold certification from the RIAA five years after its release. The band released two subsequent albums, Hellacious Acres in 1991 and Pissed in 1994, both of which received critical acclaim despite not matching their debut's commercial success. A fourth album, The R*tist 4*merly Known as Dangerous Toys, released in 1995, was both a commercial and critical disappointment, prompting the band to enter a hiatus. Dangerous Toys resurfaced in 1999 and has since operated primarily as a live act, occasionally suggesting that a fifth studio album may be in development.
