Founded in 1993 by guitarist Wolfgang Teske and his son drummer Lille Gruber, Defeated Sanity is a German technical death metal band from Dachsbach, Bavaria. The current lineup includes Gruber on drums, Jacob Schmidt on bass guitar, Josh Welshman on vocals, and Vaughn Stoffey on guitar. The band is known for their brutal, abrasive and intricate style of death metal, often incorporating jazz fusion influences, and has been categorized as progressive death metal. Influenced by American extreme metal bands such as Cannibal Corpse and Suffocation, Defeated Sanity has released seven studio albums to date: Prelude to the Tragedy, Psalms of the Moribund, Chapters of Repugnance, Passages into Deformity, Disposal of the Dead / Dharmata, The Sanguinary Impetus, and Chronicles of Lunacy. Beyond their studio releases, the group has also put out numerous promos, demos, and splits.
