Die Krupps is a German industrial metal and EBM band formed in 1980 in Düsseldorf by Jürgen Engler, Ralf Dörper, and Bernward Malaka. Throughout their career, the band has explored diverse musical styles and influences. Their early work showcased percussive industrial sounds with the 1981 album Stahlwerksynfonie, followed by a shift toward synth-pop with Volle Kraft voraus! in 1982 and Entering the Arena in 1985, which marked their initial venture into English-language material. The band solidified its identity as an industrial metal act during the 1990s, releasing four albums between 1992 and 1997, each numbered from 1 to 4. After 1997, Die Krupps continued to evolve their sound with albums such as Als wären wir für immer in 2010, which emphasized electro-industrial elements, and The Machinists of Joy in 2013. The band later returned to the heavy metal direction of their 1990s output with their album V – Metal Machine Music.
