Distant is a deathcore band from The Netherlands. The name has been used across various forms of media and culture. An album titled Distant was released by the band Sarge, which also featured a title track of the same name. In film, Distant served as the North American title for a 2002 Turkish film originally released as Uzak. More recently, a 2024 American film directed by Will Speck and Josh Gordon also adopted the name Distant. Beyond music and film, the term has appeared in other contexts, including a 2018 song by Jaden Smith from his project The Sunset Tapes: A Cool Tape Story. The name Distant also has historical significance, as it was associated with William Lucas Distant, an English entomologist who lived from 1845 to 1922. Additionally, distant signal is a technical term used in railway signalling systems.
