Formed in San Jose, California in 1996, Duster is an American indie rock band that has been closely associated with slowcore and space rock revival movements. For most of its history, the group has consisted of multi-instrumentalists Clay Parton and Canaan Dove Amber alongside drummer Jason Albertini, who departed in 2022. The band released two albums during its initial period: Stratosphere in 1998 and Contemporary Movement in 2000, before becoming inactive. After a prolonged hiatus, Duster began recording new music in 2018 and resumed performing live shortly thereafter. The band experienced a significant surge in popularity during the 2020s, largely attributed to the widespread use of their songs on the social media platform TikTok.
