Earth Crisis is an American metallic hardcore band from Syracuse, New York. The band formed in 1989 and remained active until 2001 before reuniting in 2007. Since 1993, the core lineup has consisted of vocalist Karl Buechner, lead guitarist Scott Crouse, bassist Ian Edwards, and drummer Dennis Merrick. Erick Edwards joined as the band's third and current rhythm guitarist in 1998. Throughout their career, Earth Crisis has released eight full-length studio albums and four studio EPs along with various other releases. The band is widely recognized for their advocacy of animal rights and promotion of straight edge and vegan lifestyles, while also addressing broader social and political issues through their music. Earth Crisis is considered a crucial developer and significant influence on the metalcore genre and has played an important role in the vegan straight edge movement. Music critic Tom Connick of NME described the band as "the ultimate in vegan-straight edge hardcore."
