Einherjer

Einherjer is a Viking metal band from Haugesund, Norway, founded in 1993. The band's music blends folk influences with symphonic black metal elements, and their lyrics retell Norse legends with each album exploring its own thematic concept. After releasing the album Blot in December 2003, Einherjer disbanded in early 2004. That same year, band founders Frode Glesnes and Gerhard Storesund, along with other members, established the thrash metal band Battered with bassist Ole Moldesæther. In September 2008, Einherjer announced their reunion, performing selected European shows in 2009 at festivals including Ragnarök, Kaltenbach, and Wacken. The band signed with Indie Recordings in December 2010 and released Norrøn in September 2011, their first album in eight years. Since their reunion, Einherjer has released three additional studio albums, with their most recent work, North Star, arriving on February 26, 2021.
