Formed in Los Angeles in 1985, this American hard rock and glam metal band was originally assembled by vocalist Taime Downe, guitarists Greg Steele and Brent Muscat, and bassist Kelly Nickels. Throughout their career, the group experienced numerous lineup changes, though Downe remained as the sole constant member. After initially disbanding in 1993, the band reformed in 2001 and continued performing. Their discography includes four studio albums: their self-titled debut Faster Pussycat released in 1987, followed by Wake Me When It's Over in 1989, Whipped! in 1992, and The Power and the Glory Hole in 2006. The band achieved significant commercial success during the late 1980s and early 1990s, accumulating over two million records sold worldwide. In 2020, music critic Jeff Mezydlo of Yardbarker recognized their influence by including them in his list of the twenty greatest hair metal bands of all time.
