About
Gunshine was a browser game developed by Supercell Oy, a Finnish mobile game development company based in Helsinki. Released in 2011, Gunshine served as the company's debut game following Supercell's founding on 14 May 2010. After the success of Gunshine.net, Supercell shifted its focus to developing games for mobile devices. The company went on to fully release seven mobile games including Hay Day, Clash of Clans, Boom Beach, Clash Royale, Brawl Stars, Squad Busters, and mo.co, all of which are freemium games. These titles achieved significant commercial success, contributing to the company's annual revenue of 2.65 billion euros as of 2026. Following its rapid growth, Supercell expanded internationally by opening additional offices in Shanghai, San Francisco, and Seoul. In 2016, Chinese conglomerate Tencent Holdings acquired a majority stake in the company, taking an 81.4% ownership valued at €8.4 billion.
