Finnish rock legends Hanoi Rocks formed in 1979 and became the first Finnish band to chart in the UK. Rising toward international success, their momentum halted in December 1984 when drummer Razzle died in a drunk driving incident. The band split in 1985 but reunited in 2001. Though rooted in rock and punk, Hanoi Rocks profoundly influenced glam metal bands including Guns N' Roses and Poison. Their albums have sold between 780,000 and 1,000,000 copies worldwide, primarily in Scandinavia and Japan.
