Harakiri for the Sky is an Austrian post-black-metal band formed in 2011 by vocalist JJ and multi-instrumentalist Matthias Sollak, who previously performed with black metal band Bifröst. Based in Salzburg and Vienna, the band has released six studio albums through German label AOP Records: Harakiri for the Sky (2012), Aokigahara (2014), III: Trauma (2016), Arson (2018), Mӕre (2021), and Scorched Earth (2025). The group has established itself within the post-black-metal scene through collaborations with bands including Heretoir, Alcest, and Austere. Live performances feature JJ and Sollak alongside bassist Thomas Dornig, drummer Mischa Bruemmer, drummer Krimh, and guitarist Marrok. The band has toured extensively, including dates alongside Der Weg einer Freiheit and The great Old Ones in March 2016, and performed at Summer Breeze Open Air that same year. In 2017, Harakiri for the Sky received a nomination in the Hard & heavy category at the Amadeus Austrian Music Awards.
