Dutch folk metal band Heidevolk combines traditional folk music with metal instrumentation to create a distinctive sound. The band's lyrical themes draw inspiration from nature, the history of Gelderland, and Germanic mythology. Most of their songs are performed in Dutch, reflecting their cultural roots and connection to their homeland. While Dutch remains their primary language, the band has occasionally ventured into English-language material. Their 2015 album Velua features one original English song titled "Vinland" alongside several English covers. The 2018 album Vuur van verzet further demonstrates this bilingual approach, including two English-language compositions: "A Wolf in My Heart" and "The Alliance". Through their music, Heidevolk explores themes connected to their regional heritage and the natural world.
