Vegard Sverre Tveitan, known by his stage name Ihsahn, is a Norwegian musician, singer, songwriter, record producer, and composer born on October 10, 1975. He is best known for his work with the black metal band Emperor. Tveitan is a founding member of Thou Shalt Suffer, where he performed guitar, keyboard, and vocals. He also collaborated with his wife Heidi Solberg Tveitan, known as Starofash, in the project Peccatum. Since 2006, Tveitan has primarily focused on solo albums and occasional guest appearances. His musical style extends beyond typical metal characteristics to include classical, industrial, and progressive elements, and he is recognized as a progenitor of the symphonic black metal genre.
