Initiate is a name that has been used across multiple creative works spanning literature and music. In the literary realm, it appears as the title of a 1920 series of three occult books by Cyril Scott. The name was later adopted for a short story set within the Divergent trilogy by Veronica Roth, which was collected in the compilation Four: A Divergent Collection. Louise Cooper used Initiate as the title for a novel in The Time Master Trilogy, published in 1985. In drama, Alexandra Wood created a work titled The Initiate in 2014. The name has also been used for musical albums, including a 2010 release by the Nels Cline Singers and a 1995 album by Mervyn Spence.
