Samuel Ervin Beam, known professionally as Iron & Wine, is an American singer-songwriter born on July 26, 1974. He has released six studio albums along with several EPs, singles, and download-only releases, including a live album recorded during his 2005 Bonnaroo performance. Iron & Wine occasionally performs with a full band in addition to his solo work. The distinctive stage name comes from an unexpected source: a dietary supplement called "Beef, Iron & Wine" that Beam discovered in a general store while filming a movie.
