Jacob Jolliff

Jacob Jolliff is a mandolin player who was part of Joy Kills Sorrow, a Boston-based indie pop and American roots stringband. The group was formed in 2005 and remained active until at least May 2014, when they performed their last concert. At that final performance, the band consisted of founding member Matthew Arcara on flatpicking guitar, vocalist Emma Beaton, Wes Corbett on banjo, Jacob Jolliff on mandolin, and Zoe Guigueno on bass. Matthew Arcara was recognized as an award-winning guitarist. The band's name was inspired by the call letters of WJKS, an Indiana radio station that broadcast the Monroe Brothers during the 1930s.
