James Gang

Formed in Cleveland, Ohio in 1966, James Gang was an American rock band that achieved notable success as a power trio. The classic lineup featured Joe Walsh on guitars and lead vocals, Tom Kriss on bass, and Jim Fox on drums. Dale Peters later replaced Kriss on bass for the band's second and third albums. The group became known for their hit songs "Funk #49" and "Walk Away," which remain popular on classic rock and AOR stations today. In late 1971, Walsh departed to pursue a solo career and eventually joined the Eagles. James Gang continued with various replacement guitarists and lead singers, but struggled to replicate their earlier success. After releasing six additional studio albums without producing another hit, the band disbanded in 1977. The members have reunited periodically over the years, with Walsh, Fox, and Peters performing together as the original power trio at notable events such as the Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concert at Wembley Stadium on September 3, 2022.
