James Vincent Shanahan, professionally known as Jamey Jasta, is an American vocalist, record producer, and songwriter born on August 7, 1977. He is best known as the lead singer of the metalcore band Hatebreed, a group viewed as influential in the hardcore genre. Beyond his work with Hatebreed, Jasta fronts the sludge metal band Kingdom of Sorrow and the metalcore band Icepick. He has also released several solo records throughout his career. In addition to his performances as a vocalist, Jasta has worked as a producer, creating albums for other artists. In March 2008, he was ranked at number 87 in Hit Parader's "Top 100 Metal Vocalists of All Time," reflecting his recognition within the metal music community.
