Born on March 20, 1951, Jimmie Lawrence Vaughan Jr. is an American blues rock guitarist and singer based in Austin, Texas. He is a founding member of The Fabulous Thunderbirds and the older brother of Stevie Ray Vaughan, a noted Texas blues guitarist who has since passed away. Vaughan's distinctive playing style has been shaped by the influence of several notable blues guitarists. Among his primary influences are the "Three Kings"—Albert King, Freddie King, and B.B. King—as well as Johnny "Guitar" Watson, all of whom left their mark on his musical development and approach to the instrument.
