Formed in Mesa, Arizona in 1993, Jimmy Eat World is an American rock band fronted by vocalist and lead guitarist Jim Adkins, alongside rhythm guitarist Tom Linton, bassist Rick Burch, and drummer Zach Lind. The band achieved commercial breakthrough with their 2001 album Bleed American, which produced the chart-topping hit "The Middle." Their 2004 follow-up Futures featured another number one song, "Pain." Both albums earned RIAA certification for combined sales exceeding 1.5 million records. Chase This Light in 2007 became their highest-charting album, reaching number five on the Billboard 200.
