Jo-Vaughn Virginie Scott, professionally known as Joey Bada$$, is an American rapper and actor born on January 20, 1995, in Brooklyn, New York City. He formed the regional hip-hop group Pro Era in 2011 and later helped establish the larger collective Beast Coast. Joey Bada$$ signed with Cinematic Music Group as a solo artist and released his debut mixtape, 1999, in 2012, followed by Summer Knights in 2013. Both mixtapes received critical acclaim. His first studio album, B4.Da.$$, was released in 2015 and peaked at number five on the Billboard 200, as did his second album, All-Amerikkkan Badass, released in 2017. Both albums continued to receive critical praise. His third studio album, 2000, was released in 2022 and peaked at number 22 on the Billboard 200. In addition to his music career, Joey Bada$$ made his television acting debut in the USA Network series Mr. Robot.
