American singer-songwriter Joy Oladokun was born on April 6, 1992. Her music spans multiple genres including folk, R&B, rock, and pop. Her artistic work is influenced by her identity as a queer person of color. Oladokun has released five studio albums throughout her career. Her debut album Carry came out in 2016, followed by In Defense of My Own Happiness (The Beginnings) in 2020. She then released In Defense of My Own Happiness in 2021, Proof of Life in 2023, and most recently Observations from a Crowded Room in 2024.
