Kvelertak

Kvelertak is a Norwegian band whose name means 'stranglehold' in their native language. Formed in Stavanger in 2007, the group blends rock and roll, black metal, and punk into their distinctive sound. The band primarily performs songs with Norwegian lyrics and has undergone one significant lineup change, with founding member and lead singer Erlend Hjelvik departing in 2018 and being replaced by vocalist Ivar Nikolaisen. The current lineup includes guitarists Vidar Landa and Maciek Ofstad, bassist Marvin Nygaard, and drummer Håvard Takle Ohr. Their self-titled debut album released in 2010 achieved commercial success in Norway, selling more than 15,000 copies. The band has since released four additional albums: Meir in 2013, Nattesferd in 2016, Splid in 2020, and Endling in 2023. Splid marked the first album featuring Ivar Nikolaisen as the lead vocalist.
