Founded in Los Angeles, California in 1985, L7 is an American rock band that was first active until 2001 before reforming in 2014. The band's longest standing lineup features Suzi Gardner on guitars and vocals, Donita Sparks on vocals and guitars, Jennifer Finch on bass and vocals, and Dee Plakas on drums and vocals. L7 has released seven studio albums and has performed extensively across the US, Europe, Japan, Australia, and South America. Their 1992 track "Pretend We're Dead" achieved significant success on US alternative radio, reaching the top 10 on the Billboard Modern Rock chart. Often associated with the grunge movement of the late 1980s and early 1990s, L7 has also been linked to riot grrrl due to being an all-female band, though they preceded and remain outliers of both movements. Beyond music, L7 has demonstrated commitment to political activism and founded Rock for Choice in 1991. A documentary film about the band titled L7: Pretend We're Dead premiered in 2016.
