Born Thomas James Gabel on November 8, 1980, Laura Jane Grace is an American musician, singer, and songwriter. She is best known as the founder, lead singer, songwriter, and rhythm guitarist of the punk rock band Against Me!. In addition to her work with Against Me!, Grace fronts Laura Jane Grace & the Devouring Mothers, a solo project she began in 2016. Grace is notable for being one of the first highly visible punk rock musicians to publicly come out as transgender, an announcement she made in May 2012. Following her transition, she released her first solo studio album, Stay Alive, in 2020. Her most recent album, Hole in My Head, was released in 2024.
