The term also appears in entertainment and sports contexts, referencing Ferran Laviña, a Spanish basketball player, and Lavina Fielding Anderson, a Latter Day Saint scholar, writer, editor, and feminist born in 1944. Lavina Dawson was a writer and stage producer who lived from 1937 to 2015 and is noted in connection with the work A Christmas Held Captive. The name was also used as the Czech title for the 1946 film The Avalanche.
