Born on December 20, 1986, Lido Pimienta is a Colombian Canadian musician, singer, and songwriter. She achieved widespread recognition following the 2017 Polaris Music Prize win for her 2016 album La Papessa. Her musical style draws from diverse influences and incorporates a rich blend of sounds. Traditional indigenous and Afro-Colombian musical styles such as cumbia and bullerengue form an important foundation of her work, which she combines with contemporary synthpop and electronic music elements. This fusion of heritage-rooted traditions with modern production techniques creates her distinctive artistic voice.
