About
Life of Agony is an American alternative metal band from Brooklyn, New York City, formed in 1989 by singer Keith Caputo, bassist Alan Robert, and guitarist Joey Z. These three founding members have remained the core of the band throughout its history, despite multiple drummer changes. The group's 1993 debut album River Runs Red was named by Rolling Stone as one of the Greatest Metal Albums of All Time. Life of Agony released Ugly in 1995 and Soul Searching Sun in 1997 before disbanding in 2002 when Caputo stepped away from the band. The original lineup reunited for two sold-out New York shows in 2003 and released Broken Valley in 2005. After a brief breakup in 2012, the band reunited in 2014 and released A Place Where There's No More Pain in 2017, their first studio album in twelve years. In 2018, longtime drummer Sal Abruscato departed and was replaced by Veronica Bellino. The Sound of Scars was released in 2019 as their most recent studio album.
