Liturgy

About

This American black metal band hails from Brooklyn, New York City. Liturgy has developed a distinctive approach to their craft, which they describe as "transcendental black metal," a concept that founding member Haela Hunt-Hendrix articulated in a manifesto. Beyond their black metal foundation, the band has continuously experimented with a diverse range of musical styles, incorporating progressive rock, hip hop, and electronic music into their compositions. The band's artistic influences are wide-ranging and eclectic, with Hunt-Hendrix citing Swans, Glenn Branca, Rhys Chatham, La Monte Young, and Lightning Bolt as key inspirations that have shaped their musical direction and approach to songwriting.
