Born on October 4, 1973, in Glendale, California, Matthew Stephen Ward is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist known professionally as M. Ward. A Grammy-nominated producer, Ward's solo work blends folk and blues-inspired Americana with analog recording techniques. Since 1999, he has released 12 studio albums, primarily through the independent label Merge Records. Beyond his solo career, Ward is a member of the indie pop duo She & Him and the folk-rock supergroup Monsters of Folk. He also actively participates in recording, producing, and performing with various other artists.
